History

IPC Hebron Kumbanad is also known as the 'mother church' among IPC churches and its believers.

Pr. K E Abraham was first filled with the Holy Spirit on a Sunday on April 22, 1923. By the end of that year, many others with him enjoyed this experience for the first time. After waiting and praying, they saw the Lord doing great miracles in their midst. In January 1924, he formed few congregations in various places. Kumbanad was blessed in having one of those congregations and thus being witnessed as the place from which the great Pentecostal Movement in India had started.

After over 8 decades, the church has come a long way since the inception of this movement. The church was founded by the pioneers of IPC; Pr. K E Abraham and Pr. K C Oommen. From the beginning, the church has stood for the truth of the Word of God, and made sure it had an emphasis on the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and had also grown as a missionary church.

There has been a great history to write about the IPC Hebron Church Kumbanad, but we, as a church, try to focus on growing upon the strong foundation, the Word of God, and also rely on the great lessons the forefathers had and taught us.

With over 170 families, we have a strong Sunday School, a dynamically active PYPA, and also a Sodari Samajam filled with prayer warriors. Our current pastor, Pr. D Samkutty, has been leading our church during these unprecedented times.
